Class List Verifications

Class List Verifications are important. Be sure to log into banner web. Report any student who have never attended and confirm all on your roster are attending. Attendance issues you report on the 4 week check.

Report between these dates: January 27th - Feb 5th.

1. Registration problems become increasingly difficult as the term progresses. These issues can impact student's billing, financial aid, progress, and cause final grading issues. We must be sure are class lists are accurate.
2. Our enrollment reporting for Census. We depend on this data not just internally for our own fiscal wellbeing, but we report externally to accreditors and to State and Federal agencies.

Family Medical Leave Act Training

This is the fifth training in a 9 part training series targeted at any AU employee who has supervisory roles in their department. This training can also be especially helpful for any staff who support the supervisors in their department.

This training will encompass: who is eligible for FMLA leave, how long is the leave, intermittent/reduced leave, how employees request FMLA leave, and how employees return to work after leave

Supervisors who may be new in their rolls or need a refresher are encouraged to come. This is also open to any AU employee who would like more knowledge on this topic.

This training will be held on January 10, 2023 from 11:15am-12:00pm and on January 25, 2023 from 11:15am-12:00pm both online.

Off Campus Community Service Work-Study Opportunity

Did you know that you can work as a work-study student at local off-campus community service employers?

The Alfred Montessori is looking to hire Federal Work Study-eligible students as Child Care Aides for the spring semester. Hours available are 7:30 am-11:00 am and 3:30 pm-5:30 pm

AU Masquerade Ball Announced

The long-awaited AU Ball is finally happening!

A Masquerade Ball will be held for Alfred University Students on February 25, 2023 6:00-11:00pm in the Knight Club on the 3rd floor Powell Campus Center

The event will include a seated dinner with both appetizers and dessert, as well as a DJ, photobooth, bar for attendees 21+ and post-ball casino night activity.

There are only 120 available tickets due to the size limitations of the space.

Ticket sales will be open to students (and their guests) only until February 1st, after which sales will be opened to faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.

$10 Student Tickets

$20 Community Tickets (not available until the aforementioned date)

The Ball is being sponsored by the Student Senate via the Student Life Enhancement Fund.

All proceeds from ticket sale will be donated to our charity of choice: The African American Giving Initiative, based in Rochester, in celebration of Black History Month that the event coincides with. More information on the charity can be found here.

We are also collecting formal wear donations from now until Feb. 3rd to provide students will free clothing options for the event. If you would like to donate clothing please follow this link for more information.

Chi Sigma Lota Community Care Drive-Donations Needed

Chi Sigma Iota is an honors society for the Masters of Mental Health and Masters of School Counseling programs at AU. Each year, the chapter seeks out opportunities to serve our local community.

The Community Care Drive been successful in providing those local students and their families with their identified needs such as personal care products, seasonal needs, school supplies, non-perishable foods, etc. This year's chapter of CSI has decided to continue this successful program, and we invite you to participate in the Community Care Drive this year!

AKO Leadership Awards

The AKO Leadership Awards, endowed by the Alpha Kappa Omicron sorority, are now taking nominations! Both awards come with an honorarium that the awardees can spend at their own discretion.

The AKO Achievement Award is given to a woman in her sophomore year of study who demonstrates excellence in personal academic leadership. A 3.25 GPA is required as well as active membership in a student organization. Honorarium: $250.

The AKO Social Change Leadership Award is given to a woman in her junior year of study who has made efforts in positive change for the AU community. A minimum 3.00 GPA is required as well as demonstrated leadership in a student club or organization. Honorarium: $500.

To nominate a student, send their name, email, and major to Abigail Hurley (hurley@alfred.edu) by February 10th! Applications will be due by February 24th. The link provided includes the application and award information.

Formal Wear Clothing Drive

Do you have; formal, prom, or bridesmaids dresses, suits, tuxes, or other formal pieces you'll never wear again?

We are taking donations of all formal wear and accessories so we can provide Alfred University students with free options for our upcoming Masquerade Ball scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 25th

A full range of sizes and gender expressions are needed.

Registrar's office has HP 305A laserjet cartridges free if you can use them. 1 each of black, cyan, yellow and magenta.

We also have Lexmark cartridges- 1 - magenta (24B5805), 1 yellow (24B5806), and 1 Cyan (24B5804). All state they replace CS736, XS734, XS736, XS738

Jan 26: David DeGraff, "A Tale of Two Telescopes: Amazing Images from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope and AU's Rosing Telescope"

After almost 30 years of planning and testing, the JWST was launched on December 25, 2021, and started producing amazing images in July. Alfred University's latest telescope, a 24-inch installed in November 2019 but not used by students until Fall 2021, has also recently produced some wonderful images. David DeGraff, professor of physics and astronomy, will discuss how these two telescopes are being used and the value of their results.

Club Colors catalog now available in The Saxon Shop!

We are very excited to share that Club Colors, our official branded merchandise provider through Barnes and Noble, has launched a punch-out catalog through The Saxon Shop. All designs offered through the catalog have been approved through the Marketing and Communications Department and meet University branding guidelines.

Under the terms of our agreement with our bookstore partner, this should be your first stop for branded merchandise when using departmental funds. If the Club Colors catalog does not have what you are looking for, please reach out to the procurement office for assistance.
