RICH B*TCH by Rachel Lynett

Theatre Production directed by Asst. Prof of Theatre Jonathan Ziese.

Dani, Emma, Izzy, Vivien, and Maddie gather in a Las Vegas hotel to celebrate Emma's wedding. (Just don't call it a "bachelorette party" or Emma will yell at you.) No one expected the literal and proverbial cuts they would ultimately inflict on each other over the course of an evening that would change each of their lives in ways both overt and subtle.

The three shows, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, (March 30-April 1) will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Miller Theater.

This show is free to the public and no reservations are required.

*Please note that this show does contain mature subject matter with adult content and may not be suitable for all audiences.

AU CoB Fleece/Jacket Sale

Hello everyone!

We are a student group at Alfred University that is organizing our small business idea - College of Business Apparel!

We are going to manufacture through the Bookstore CoB fleece and anorak jackets! This is a great investment for students, alumni, and parents as we try to keep the price reasonable and fair. Our fleece is super soft and comfortable for everyday wear, sports, and active weekends!

All our profits are going to be donated to humanitarian aid towards the war in Ukraine, so if you would like to do a small donation, we would appreciate it and include a small gift personally from our group.

Thank you!

Bridges Between Mathematics and the Arts

Next week is advising week, so here's a heads up about a special course being offered in fall 2023:

Topics: Bridges Between Mathematics and the Arts - 18497 - MATH 200 - 1

This course is designed for anyone with an interest in art or math. We will focus on learning and exploring intersections of the two fields, drawing on research and expertise of AU math and arts faculty. Students will produce artwork and/or analytical papers which can be submitted for peer review to The Bridges Organization, an international mathematics, art, music, architecture, and culture organization with an annual conference and peer-reviewed publications. Mentoring students who are producing work for peer review, then optionally submitting it and/or attending the Bridges 2024 math arts conference are all facets of the class. Faculty will continue mentoring students toward this goal, even when the class concludes. For more information about the Bridges organization, including archives of previously accepted artwork and papers, conference announcements and updates see https://www.bridgesmathar....

The course is cotaught by Drs. Lipnicki and Matson. It will take place 12:20-1:10pm MTWF. Please keep it in mind for your advising week meetings.

Ramadan 2023

Please Read:

Message from Zahriyah- Amina, Vice President of the African Students Association (ASA) and the Muslim Student Ambassador.

As Salam Alaikum Ramatullahi Wa Barakhatu All,

The Cresent Moon has been spotted in Saudi meaning this year Ramadan will take place from Wednesday, March 22nd to Friday, April 21.

First, we would like to commend you on your commitment to fasting this year as it is a challenging thing to do while being active and school while also taking part in sports, clubs, or organizations. Angie Taylor has offered to supply dates and water on a needed basis. You can stop by her office on the first floor of Powell to get your supplies per week. We also have an area on the second floor of the gothic Powell equipped with Qurans, Dikr beads, Prayer rugs, and garments if you need them.

If you would like personal Qurans in English we have about 50 we can give away, please contact Eliza Ordway or Angie Taylor for them. As you know we also have 3 Stories of the Prophets events coming up with snacks and chia as you enjoy the film. THESE FILMS WILL NOT SHOW THE FACE OF ANY PROPHET WITHIN ISLAM AS IT IS CONSIDERED HIGHLY DISRESPECTFUL.

We will also be hosting a trip to a Masjid in Elmira, NY, during Dhurh prayer on Sunday, April 2, to get a tour of the Masjid and to learn more about the blessed month of Ramadan. We hope your Ramadan is easy this year and if you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.

What We Do

Did you know?

That Alfred University Environmental Health and Safety disposes of chemical and other wastes from all over the campus? We also provide containers for broken glass and medical waste.

Did you know?

That E.H.&S. trains people how to protect themselves from Bloodborne Pathogens, and respiratory and other hazards?

We do.

We also arrange for air quality testing, evaluate campus laboratories and studios for safety considerations, and make recommendations and help purchase safety equipment.

We respond to Incident/Accident/Near-miss reports, and fire and other alarms. We issue hot work permits. We help with fire extinguishers, first aid kits and Automatic External Defibrillators.

We have signs for all kinds of situations: From signs that tell you how to exit a building in an emergency, to "eye protection required" and "Fire Extinguisher".
We have containers for used copier toner cartridges and household batteries - we even accept lead-acid batteries.

We're working with Facilities to open Foster Lake for swimming, boating and camping. We're working with AVI and Alfred Goes Green, to compost food waste, and we encourage and enable recycling campus-wide.
We plan to arrange training for CPR and the use of tourniquets, as well as emergencies involving Hydrofluoric Acid.

Need bandages for your First Aid kit?
Need a KN95 mask?

Come see us in the Physical Plant building (where Public Safety used to be located).
