Do you play a musical instrument? Join Pep Band!

Alfred University Pep Band is seeking faculty and staff members who play musical instruments to join the Pep Band!

The AU Pep Band for the past 20+ years has played at all Saxon home football games. The band is looking to expand this year by playing at basketball games and, perhaps, other events, as requested.

Got pep? Play an instrument? We'd love to have you get on the Bandwagon! It's a great way to have fun with our talented students!

Campus-Wide Shred Event

The Office of Procurement Services is sponsoring a summer shredding event to be held on Wednesday, July 12th. The Shred-It truck will be parked in the Jordan Hall lot from 8AM until 12PM. If you would like to take advantage of this event, please have your materials delivered to the Jordan Hall parking lot no later than 11:30am that morning. Physical Plant will also be able to assist offices that have several boxes of materials to be destroyed. Simply put in a work order by no later than July 7th, and they will make sure your materials are taken down to the site. Here are some guidelines for the event: Documents must be sensitive in nature. If they are not, then they do not require shredding and should be recycled instead. Materials must be removed from binders and folders. Materials may be stapled, but any binder clips, coils, etc., must be removed. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please call the Procurement Office at x2698.

Juneteenth Celebration at Veterans Park

The Committee for Religious and Racial healing will be sponsoring a Juneteenth Celebration at Veterans Park (formerly known as James Street Park) in Hornell from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, June 17. Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. On June 19th, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that all slaves were now free. Juneteenth has long been celebrated in the Black community. As of 2022, Juneteenth became a national holiday.

The Juneteenth Celebration in Hornell will include some brief historical talks, a re-enactment of the original Juneteenth, performances, games, and other activities. The event is free and open to everyone. The Committee for Racial and Religious Healing hopes that this will become an annual celebration.

Protect Our Campus, Use The "Phish Alert Report" Button

As many of you know, we have a new automated phishing prevention system. I am advising all our users to utilize the "Phish Alert Button" in Outlook (image attached).

If you receive a suspected phishing email, clicking on the Phish Alert Report button will remove it from your email and quarantine it for analysis. And even better, through your reporting, ITS systems will automatically look for similar emails on university servers and remove them from other accounts. In this way, you are acting as a "human firewall" to protect yourself and the wider campus community from these social engineering attacks. Report with confidence...If you (accidentally) falsely report a phishing email, the analysis engine will release it back to you.
