Class List Verifications

Class List Verifications are important. Be sure to log into banner web. Check your rosters, does it match to who is attending? You will be getting a prompt via email to REPORT ANY STUDENT THAT IS NOT ATTENDING. It will be a Campaign from Navigate.

Attending issues are not reported via verifications, please do that as an "Issue Alert" for the student in Navigate separately.

Report between these dates: Jan. 23rd - Feb. 2nd.

1. Registration problems become increasingly difficult as the term progresses. These issues can impact student's billing, financial aid, progress, and cause final grading issues. We must be sure all class lists are accurate.
2. Our enrollment reporting for Census. We depend on this data not just internally for our own fiscal wellbeing, but we report externally to accreditors and to State and Federal agencies.

UDL Tip of the Week: Captions in YouTube Videos

AU's Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Task Force is pleased to share weekly tips to help faculty and staff provide an inclusive learning environment for all students, regardless of differences that may impact learning. This week's tip is:

Captions in YouTube Videos

If you would like to share a YouTube video with your students, it is important to make sure that it contains captions. Captions are helpful to a variety of users, including English Language learners, students with shared workspaces, and students with hearing impairments. If closed captioning is available for a YouTube video, the closed captioning icon (CC) at the bottom of the viewing window will be clickable. If captions are not available, the CC icon will be grayed out and will not be clickable.

Walk like a penguin!

Well, Winter finally got started, and of course that means it's time to be extra careful getting around.

Our grounds crews are busy every day, clearing and salting roads and sidewalks, and custodians are working to keep floors clean and dry so we don't slip and fall. Please save yourself and them some trouble, by taking extra time and using extra caution when going from place to place.

Here's a link to a message about how to get around safely in Winter, by walking like a penguin, etc. Please stay safe!!

Bergren Forum - Likin Simon-Romero

"Beyond Monopoly: What Can We Learn From Modern Board Games?"

During the occupation of Poland during World War II, the Borsuks found themselves in hard times. The Nazi occupation forces' strategy was to put an end to the intellectual Polish life. Famous topologist Karol Borsuk, who struggled to keep his university running, was ultimately imprisoned and went into hiding after escaping. Borsuk, with his wife, designed and made copies by hand of a game called "Animal Husbandry", selling many copies. Except for one copy in a different location, all copies were destroyed during the 1944 Warsaw rebellion. The game is not about war, but about trading farm animals; there is little to no player confrontation in the game, starting what we now call Euro games. In this forum, I will talk about how and what we can learn from board games.

The Bergren Forum takes place every Thursday lunchtime during the semester from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm in Nevins Theater. You're welcome to bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.

For further information, contact Paige Bock ([email protected], (607)-871-2217) or John D'Angelo ([email protected], x2821).
