Seeking volunteers for Returning Student Move-In

Would you like to welcome back our continuing students?! On Saturday August 24 & Sunday August 25, from 10am-2pm, our returning students will arrive back to campus. The office of Residential Communities is seeking volunteers to be in the halls when these students arrive and engage in conversation and create connections.

ITS Classroom Best Practices and Troubleshooting

ITS is pleased to partner with academic divisions to provide classroom technology to facilitate student learning. As the fall semester approaches, faculty are encouraged to visit their classrooms and become acquainted with the layout and equipment. If you have any classroom equipment concerns during the fall semester, please contact the ITS Helpdesk as soon as possible at 607-871-2222 or [email protected].

Rev. James Curl, emeritus professor of education, passes away

The Rev. James Curl, emeritus professor of education at Alfred University, died on Sunday, Aug. 4, in Asheville, NC. He was 79.

Jim taught counseling education and psychology from 1974 until his retirement in 2007. He served as the advisor of the University's chapter of Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity and was also president of the Wellsville Central School District Board of Education.

In 2004, Jim earned a master's degree in theology from the University of the South at Sewanee and in 2005 began serving as campus chaplain for the Episcopal and Lutheran denominations at Alfred University. In retirement, Jim moved into ministry full-time. In 2007, he moved from Wellsville to Asheville, NC, where he served as rector of St Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Rutherfordton, NC, from 2008-13.

A memorial service will be held at St. Gabriel's in Rutherfordton, NC, at 1 p.m. on August 31, 2024.
