AU's Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Task Force is pleased to share weekly tips to help faculty and staff provide an inclusive learning environment for all students, regardless of differences that may impact learning. This week's tip is:
Guided Notes
As students learn how to take notes, it can be helpful to have guided notes. Guided notes are notes which are partially filled in, and which prompt students to add additional information from the class session to recall their memory at a later time. This can be a valuable learning tool for students who are not accustomed to taking notes. The provided notes can be scaffolded over time, so fewer details are provided by the instructor and more are added by the student. Additional information is available on the Center for Applied Special Technology (CAST) website.
