Eugene Ofori-Agyei: Fihankra (You Did Not Say Goodbye When You Left Home).

Alfred Ceramic Art Museum presents 2026 upcoming exhibition.

"Eugene Ofori-Agyei: Fihankra (You Did Not Say Goodbye When You Left Home)."
February 12th to July 19th, 2026

Opening Reception: Thursday, February 12, 5-7pm

Eugene Agyei arrived at Alfred University in 2023, chosen by the Division of Ceramic Art faculty as the Turner Teaching Fellow in the School of Art & Design at the New York State College of Ceramics. Over the course of the following years, he formed a bond with the students, faculty and entire community, all the while developing his own complex body of work. In this exhibition, Agyei borrows from the tradition of Adinkra symbolism, native to his homeland of Ghana, in which a single symbol can express a range of complex ideas. These symbols form the starting point, but then mutate and transform into rich "assemblage" works incorporating fabric, wool, and wood in which formal and material considerations are given priority over direct symbolism.

Village of Alfred local law on outstanding parking pickets

The Village of Alfred recently passed a local law pertaining to parking violations and the consequences of not paying parking tickets. In a recent letter from the village police department, police announced:
"The law states that any vehicle with eight (8) or more unpaid parking tickets can be towed at the owner's expense from the street, parking lot, or a place of public property. Once the vehicle is towed, the registered owner of the said vehicle will be responsible for paying the balance of unpaid parking violations to the Village Court, along with the towing and impound expenses accrued."
Enforcement of the new law will begin Feb. 1, 2026.
Police say a certified letter will be sent to the owner of any vehicle once that vehicle has accrued six or more unpaid parking tickets.
Questions regarding this policy may be addressed to village police Chief Joshua VanSkiver, 607 587-8878
