ITS is pleased to highlight Canvas tools and features that can help faculty and students achieve their goals. This week's tip is:
Accessibility Checker
When you use the Rich Content Editor to add content in Pages, Discussions, or instructions for Assignments, you have access to the Accessibility Checker. The Accessibility Checker scans your content for common accessibility issues, such as text color contrast, alternate text for images, and proper formatting for elements such as headings and tables. Information and instructions are included in the guide below.

The AU Charities Drive funds three local organizations: Alfred-Alfred Station Community Chest, Allegany County United Way, and United Way of the Southern Tier. Please consider making a donation. You can choose where to send your support and can do so by either a payroll deduction or a one-time gift. No amount is too small.

Student Experience will be hosting the 2nd Annual "Souper" Bowl Potluck on February 6th, from 11am - 1pm in the Kenyon Allen Room.
We invite all faculty and staff to bring your favorite soup to share in a crockpot and join us as we prepare for the Super Bowl.
Student Experience will provide drinks, crackers, and paper products. There are prizes for the top soups.

This session will introduce and review the Accessible Course Content Checklist, demonstrate how it can be applied to meet specific needs, and highlight tips for creating accessible digital content. A collaboration with Southern Graphic Council International (SGCI) and the iea - Althea Murphy-Price is an artist who specializes in printmaking, and Professor of Art at University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Her work "contemplates the power of hair as a signifier of cultural self-identity." Learn about her recent body of work and current print edition being made in the iea during her two week visit.

Alfred University Dance Department presents an Evening of Formal Dance, February 19-21 from 8-9pm in Miller Theater
These free concerts feature choreographic works by faculty, students and visiting dance artists, directors, choreographers and producers.
Audiences will experience the many skilled roles Alfred University students take on in the process, including: choreographer, dancer, costume designer, costume builder, lighting designer and stage crew.

Matter Pattern Exhibition opening in Turner Gallery February 13th from 5-7pm
Show on view until February 20th
Matter Pattern: An open call for any medium of work that is based around or features patterns. The show will explore how pattern and repetition can overwhelm and take over a space, while appreciating the textile craft background of pattern. I look to feature a range of color and design choices in the genre of pattern: from classic picnic blanket gingham to digital presentations of repetition.
The show will explore pattern as its own subject, showing how much it matters to art and design through a look at contemporary art making while still recognizing and appreciating its history and all it stands for.

Throughout the month of February, Alfred University joyfully celebrates Black History Month, honoring the brilliance, resilience, and lasting contributions of Black communities. This month is a time of celebration, reflection, and shared pride, inviting all members of our campus community to come together in learning, appreciation, and connection.
