Research: Artificial Intelligence (In-service Teachers)

I am seeking in-service teachers (including University Professors) as study participants.

Josh Ecker, Ed.D. and I are conducting a study on pre-service and in-service teacher use and perception of Artificial Intelligence.

The survey below can be completed by in-service teachers, including faculty of higher education institutions, and pre-service teachers enrolled in Education programs on university campuses, too.

Before beginning the survey, participants will be asked to review and sign the informed consent. Any names will be separated from the provided responses prior to data analysis.

April Women's and Gender Studies Roundtable

Friday, April 24, from 12:20 - 1:10 p.m. will be the final Women's and Gender Studies roundtable of the semester. Students from the "Women and Gender in Society" class will be presenting their final projects in the BookEnd Lounge (Herrick Library). The students and their projects are:
Parasat Bakhitbek: Taking Crimes Against Women Seriously
Rylee Bell: Running is a Feminist Issue
Owen Dalberth: Will America EVER Elect a Woman as President?
Jeshika Sharma: What is Culture and What is Misogyny? The Life of the Kumari (Living Goddess)

The roundtables are open to all willing to engage in a respectful and thoughtful conversation on the topic(s). Light refreshments will be available. Please come and hear what these students have to share.

International Randall Chair Katrin Laade Exhibition: Abstract Topographie

International Randall Chair in Painting Katrin Laade will showcase work made during her semester here at Alfred University.

The opening reception will take place in Scholes Library's Project Room on Monday April 27th 4:30pm-5:30pm.

The exhibition will be available to enjoy in Scholes Library from April 27th- May 1st.

Temporary Traffic Restrictions for Upcoming 5K Event

After Dark Dash 5k Event

Please be aware that campus roads along the 5K route will be temporarily closed to vehicle traffic on 4/24/26 from 7:30pm-9:30pm

During this time, there will be limited or no access in and out of certain areas. Please plan ahead and move vehicles if needed.

Access will reopen as soon as it is safe. Thank you for your patience and support!

The Foreign Language Placement Exam (Wednesday, April 29th)

The Foreign Language Placement Exam is an online test that is administered in person with proctoring. Online exams can be taken in French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese. Students must PREREGISTER by emailing Prof. S. Singer ([email protected]). In the email, include the language (French, German, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese) in which you would like to be tested. Modern Languages will offer this test on (Wednesday, April 29th from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. in Seidlin 016. You must pre-register by (Wednesday, April 29th by 3:00 p.m. Bring your student ID with you to the exam!

Who should take a Placement Exam? Students who have taken more than two years of French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese in high school and who intend to take the same language at AU should take the exam in that language. Students who are bilingual or native speakers of French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese (or who have spoken the language at home) should take the exam in that language.

Who does NOT need to take a Placement Exam? Students who are planning to take French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese in college but have NOT studied that language in High School (or spoken it at home) do not need to take an exam. They should start by taking 101 in their chosen language.

Students who wish to demonstrate proficiency in a language OTHER THAN French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Chinese should contact Prof. S. Singer ([email protected]) about procedures for taking a Placement Exam through another institution.

PLEASE NOTE: The Foreign Language Placement Exam is online but only offered in person on specific dates during each semester. You must register ahead of time. There is a limit of 15 for each session.
