Visiting Artist: Keith Sanborn

"Disparates and The Disasters of War – Screening and Presentation by Media Artist, Keith Sanborn"

Media artist Keith Sanborn, presents a survey of his critically-incisive media work, in an event hosted by the Division of Expanded Media. This tour through some of Sanborn’s labors over the past several decades includes videos, media installations and translation work in media - obsessions, archaeology, anthropologies, politics and pillaging.
Keith Sanborn is a media artist, theorist and translator based in New York. His work has been the subject of numerous one-person shows and has been included in major survey exhibitions including the Whitney Biennial, the American Century, and Monter/Sampler (the Centre Pompidou) and festivals such as EMAF, OVNI, and The Rotterdam International Film Festival.
Sanborn’s theoretical work has appeared in journals, books, and museum catalogues. He has translated into English the work of Debord, Viénet, Wolman, Bataille, Napoleon, Gioli, Brecht, Farocki, Kuleshov and Shub.
Keith Sanborn has also acted as an independent curator for the Oberhausen Short Film Festival, Exit Art, Artists Space, the Pacific Film Archive, and CinemaTexas. He is a collaborator with Peggy Ahwesh on Ediciones La Calavera, a small press given to eccentricities.
Sanborn currently teaches at The New School, New York and at the Milton Avery Graduate School in the Arts of Bard College.

Romancing the Toaster (The second slice)
Cedar Ridge Art Gallery (225 Confederation Dr, Toronto, Ontario)
An expansion of the January 2017 exhibition at the Cohen Gallery, Romancing the Toaster crosses the border to Toronto, Ontario, to explore the Cedar Ridge Art Gallery, a converted 5000sq ft 'summer home' built in 1844. Additional work includes a series of textured screenprints and color lithographs.
