Position Title: Director, Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology

and Duties:
Alfred University invites applications and nominations for the position of Director, Center for Advanced Ceramic Technology (CACT). The CACT is supported by NYSTAR and is part of New York State's economic development activities overseen by the Empire State Development organization.

The successful candidate will have exceptional vision, commitment, energy and leadership skills with which to enthusiastically coordinate faculty, staff, industrial partners and administration efforts to maintaining and growing a research program with tangible benefits to the New York State economy.
Requirements: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in a technical field closely related to Ceramic Technology.

Also beneficial would be an entrepreneurial spirit as demonstrated by work with startup companies; creation of faculty or student spin offs; and/or applied research with industry in areas similar to those of the CACT. Additionally, the successful candidate will evidence an ability to interdependently partner with other organizations to ensure a referral network exists for companies to receive assistance beyond that offered by the CACT (e.g., business plan refinement, general business consulting).

Lastly, a demonstrated ability to secure extramural grants/funds, both private and public, to serve needs of either partner companies, or the CACT, as they relate to the support offered through NYSTAR, is necessary.
