|Position Title:||Associate Provost for Research & Economic Development|
|Responsibilities:||Alfred University seeks an Associate Provost for Research and Economic Development. This position will report to the Provost/Chief Academic Affairs Officer and will partner closely with the various internal and external entities to promote research activities and economic development. The position will be responsible for providing pre-application assistance to all University Deans and faculty members, securing and promoting research opportunities internally and externally, assisting with writing of applications, and working to assure that all reports are completed in a timely fashion. The Associate Provost will work closely with the head of government relations and the staff of various academic units and research centers as well as the grants accounting office.|
|Requirements:||Ph.D. in a technical field closely related to Ceramic Technology and/or significant experience working with industry. Master's degree with extensive closely-related experience considered for exceptional candidate.
Demonstrated ability to secure extramural grants/funds, both private and public, to serve needs of either partner companies, or the research centers, as they relate to the support offered through NYSTAR, is necessary.
|Experience:||The qualified candidate should have an entrepreneurial spirit as demonstrated by work with startup companies; creation of faculty or student spin-offs; and/or applied research with industry. Additionally, the successful candidate will evidence an ability to interdependently partner with other organizations to ensure a referral network exists for companies to receive assistance (e.g., business plan refinement, general business consulting) either through University resources or outside agencies.
