Gary Horowitz Leadership Program

Gary Horowitz, now retired, is a much beloved faculty member at Alfred University. He inspired countless students to make the world a better place. Several years ago, a donor made a gift to honor Gary's impact on AU. From this gift, the Gary Horowitz Leadership Development Program (GHLDP) was born. A steering committee of AU staff was formed, and this group of dedicated volunteers continues to ensure a quality leadership development program for AU. The program is offered through the Judson Leadership Center.

Each year students enroll in the GHLDP in order to explore your own ideas and talents for leadership. It is a free program for students and is designed to help you with individual leadership, group and team communication and project management skills.

The program provides you with workshops, speakers and other special events plus you'll have the opportunity to take on real leadership by completing a service-leadership project for the campus.

GHLDP students are recognized at our annual Student Leadership Awards dinner and certificates of achievement are awarded.

What else will you get out of it? You'll make yourself more marketable to employers and you'll feel more confident about assuming leadership. You'll make some new friends and connect with mentors, too. Plus, you will get a leadership activities transcript you can use for your job hunt or graduate school applications.

You can join anytime and pace yourself through the program, doing as much or as little as you like until you graduate from AU.
