Violinist Ethan Wood has been praised by The Columbian as “sensational” and “in full command of his instrument,” and “riveting” by The Boston Globe. He has appeared around the United States and abroad as guest artist, recitalist, chamber & orchestral musician, having collaborated with groups such as Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Callithumpian Consort, Odyssey Opera, the Boston Ballet, and International Contemporary Ensemble on the violin, viola, mandolin, piano, & saw. In other areas of the spectrum, he enjoys playing baroque, jazz, and world music, while also collaborating with the dancers of Island Moving Co. and Doppelgänger Dance Collective and the thespians of Trinity Repertory Company.
A composer as well, a work of his premiered by A Far Cry was featured on their album, Visions and Variations, which received two Grammy nominations. He is Concertmaster of Atlantic Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Concertmaster of New Bedford Symphony Orchestra. Recently appointed an Assistant Professor of Music at Wheaton College, he also offers violin/viola lessons at Tabor Academy.
Mr. Wood has had undergraduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds BM, MM, and GD degrees from the New England Conservatory. He feels fortunate to have worked closely with David & Linda Cerone, Vartan Manoogian, and Eric Rosenblith & Lucy Chapman.
