"Hairpin Turn" Above Miller Theater
Free Public Event, Weather Permitting
This ceramic firing event is a celebration of acknowledgement held on the closing day of the MostArts Music Festival, Saturday July 13th, 11 am - 2 pm at the "Hairpin Turn" (above Miller Theater) on the Alfred University campus.
On this day, we acknowledge our community and the landscape of our glorious Alfred Summer as well as the bond that visual art and music share in giving life to the hopeful human spirit. Pots are made to be given away to be glazed for the fire by all who attend the event. Participants leave with their own, personally decorated work as a reminder of collective communication as positive action in the world.
Raku is a Japanese term associated with the Extravaganza's unique, ceramic firing process. It translates as - enjoyment.
