Alfred University to recognize top graduates at Saturday's commencement

Alfred University will recognize five students for top academic honors during the 181st commencement exercises that begin at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Galanis Family Arena, McLane Center, on the Alfred University campus.

Renowned ceramic artist Anne Currier, a retired professor of Ceramic Art at Alfred University, was recently named first-place recipient of a 2017 Virginia A. Groot Foundation Grant for what the Foundation calls “her stunning ceramic work.”

Anja Bache installation rescheduled for May 14

Visiting artist Anja Margrethe Bache will construct her own unique narrative of the Alfred community in an exhibition sponsored by Alfred University’s School of Art and Design and scheduled for May 14 at 2 p.m. at the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum. The exhibit has been rescheduled from an earlier due to weather.

Alfred University engineering students celebrate best finish in Baja competition

Alfred University engineering students finished in the 25th position in the annual Baja SAE challenge, a competition in which teams of engineering students from scores of universities and colleges. build and race off-road vehicles in rough, desert terrain.

Abigail Griffith, a 2010 summa cum laude graduate of Alfred University, has been appointed director of the Judson Leadership Center.

Ruffner captures Reserve Championship at IHSA national competition

Haley Ruffner, a sophomore on the Alfred University equestrian team, received Reserve Champion honors in the High Point Rider competition of the 2017 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association, held recently in Lexington, Ky.

Taylor Jaczko, third-year student, wins scholarship to study at Brooklyn School of Languages

Alfred University student Taylor Jaczko of New Windsor, NY, was recently awarded a scholarship for $1,900 from Phi Sigma Iota, International Foreign Language Honor Society, to complete a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course at the Brooklyn School of Languages over the summer.

Brian F. Dalton Alfred University appoints new Vice President for Enrollment Management

Alfred University President Mark Zupan has announced the appointment of Dr. Brian F. Dalton  as the University’s  new Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective May 22.
