Alfred Art Walk scheduled for April 14
Students in Alfred University’s School of Art and Design are organizing the 2017 Art Walk for Friday, April 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. While the event is still in the planning stages, it will feature a range of media including painting and photography, according to SOAD student Noelle Pomfrey. Student organizers for the event – Pomfrey notes the Art Walk is a traditional Alfred University student project – are still collecting submissions.
Additional information for the walk, including maps, will be posted in Harder Hall next week. Pomfrey said organizers are hoping to set up three to seven locations in the village, particularly the residential apartments of students exhibiting their work.
“The Art Walk helps to create a sense of community connectedness, to have a feeling of belonging and to bring together individuals,” Pomfrey said this week. “Apartments can be a nice change in scenery … (and) living room shows are a great way for artists to exhibit their work when show space is limited in a rural area like Alfred.”
