Alfred University Counseling Program Charters Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, an International Honors Society in Counseling

The Counseling Program at Alfred University is proud to announce the chartering of a new chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, an international honor society that recognizes and promotes academic and professional excellence in counseling.  The chapter has been designated Alpha Upsilon Xi and will be led by faculty advisors Dr. Jaime Castillo and Dr. Kevin Curtin.

Alpha Upsilon Xi will be dedicated to cultivating a strong professional identity among the counselors-in-training at Alfred University through university and community service projects.

Founded at Ohio University in 1985, Chi Sigma Iota has over 113,000 members who have been initiated into the Society through 392 chapters that have been chartered throughout its history. CSI promotes opportunities for emerging counselors to engage in impactful scholarship, research, advocacy, and leadership.

Counselors additionally are mentored by faculty and supported by an extensive network of alumni and members as they commit to a lifelong pursuit of academic and clinical excellence as professional school and/or mental health counselors.
