Alfred University Professor of Dance D. Chase Angier has received funding from New York State DanceForce to bring internationally renowned dance artist Eiko Otake to Alfred University for a week-long residency from March 19-23, 2018.

Angier says Alfred University will be a fertile place to explore the work of Eiko, “who medium is movement and whose work resides in the spaces between dance, theater, performance art, and sculpture.”

Otake’s residency will connect with many departments at Alfred University, as well as academic institutions in the region and area residents who have an interest in dance. Her residency will include master classes, open rehearsal, video lectures and a performance.

Expanded communications with the larger community will also be a key feature of this residency, Angier said.
