Alfred University Bergren Forum explores betrayal and migration themes in Cuban film
Erin Redmond, associate professor of Modern Languages in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at Alfred University, will discuss the themes of migration and betrayal in Cuban films during the Sept. 28 Bergren Forum.
In “Should I Stay or Should I Go? Migration and Betrayal in Cuban Film,” Redmond will explore emigration and betrayal, which she says are “frequent and often intertwined themes in post-Revolutionary Cuban film.” Over time, she says, the themes take on different meanings in Cuban cinema, from the iconic films of the 1960s to the independent digital productions of the new millennium.
The weekly lecture series is held each Thursday when school is in session at 12:10 p.m. in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center on the Alfred University campus. The lectures are open to the public, free of charge. Those attending may take their lunches; coffee and tea are provided.
