Holocaust expert to present Lefkowitz Lecture
ALFRED, NY – Dr. Stephen Berk, an expert on the history of the Holocaust, will present the next Lefkowitz Lecture in Jewish Studies, on Oct. 25 on the Alfred University campus.
Dr. Berk, professor of history at Union College, will present his lecture, “The Holocaust Revisited,” from 5:30-7:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in Nevins Theater, Powell Campus Center.
The lecture will present the history of the Holocaust, its roots in historical anti-Semitism, the unfolding of the tragedy in Europe, and the failure of leaders in America and elsewhere to stop the destruction.
A question-and-answer session will conclude the lecture, and a reception will follow where students can talk to Dr. Berk about the lecture, about the Holocaust, and about how our responsibility for the memory of the event affects our responses to ongoing crimes against humanity.
The lecture is sponsored by the Alfred University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
