Alfred University’s Cohen Gallery to host four artists’ work in ‘Residue’
ALFRED, NY – The work of four artists will be featured in ‘Residue,” an exhibition hosted by Alfred University’s Cohen Art Gallery.
Residue opens Nov. 3 with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m. and runs through Dec. 8. It will feature the work of artists Caroline Hayes Charuk, Terry James Conrad, Ron Lambert and SV Randall. According to the Alfred University School of Art and Design, the artists in the exhibition use “residue as a tool for making their art.”
“As humans, we leave a trail behind is – a record of our personal histories,” say exhibition organizers. “Some of these marks are egregious, like oil spills in the ocean; others are poetic, like the subtly scuffed paint surrounding a well-used door knob. By making objects to create stains, mimic stains, or employ stains for creative reflection, these four artists reflect how residue can create a metaphor for life’s experience.”
The Cohen Gallery is located at 55 North Main Street in Alfred. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
