Alfred University student groups sponsor Zumba event to benefit hurricane relief
Alfred University students are helping four alumni whose families were affected by the hurricanes the hit Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands with a Zumba event from 7-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in the Joyce Walton Health and Wellness Center, adjacent to McLane Center, on the Alfred University campus.
The two hours of dancing and cardio exercise will be led by three Zumba instructors: Angela Delahunt and Lyndsay Himes Burr, who teach at the Allegany County YMCA in Wellsville, and Denise Auman, who teaches at Heritage Aflame in Bolivar.
Burr is a 2007 Alfred University graduate.
The event is open to the public. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for faculty, staff and community members.
Cupcakes and other baked goods will also be for sale.
Sponsors include the Institute for Cultural Unity, Poder Latino, the Caribbean Student Association and the University’s Wellness Center.
