Alfred University to present Winter Choral Concert
ALFRED, NY – Alfred University will hold its Winter Choral Concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at the Alfred Seventh Day Baptist Church.
The concert, featuring the Alfred University Chorus, Chamber Singers and Alfred Volunteer Choir Company, is free and open to the public. It will be under the direction of Luanne Crosby, Alfred University professor of music/voice, with Kurt Galvan accompanying on piano. Laurel Buckwalter, Alfred University carillonneur and instructor in music (emeritus), will be guest conductor for “Heaven’s Road.”
The concert will feature works by Stephen Paulus, Ole Gjello, Eric Whitacre, and selections from the “Theresa” Mass by Franz Josef Haydn. The singers will round out the Winter Choral Concert with a repeat of the traditional Chinese songs they recently performed on campus in the Legend of Silk concert.
The full Haydn Mass will be the centerpiece of the University’s spring concert in Alfred on March 24, with Buckwalter accompanying on the organ. It will also be performed, with full orchestra, on April 21 in Olean.
