Cupcake decorating class offered at Community Table
ALFRED, NY – A cupcake decorating class will be offered at the Community Table in Alfred University’s Powell Campus Center on Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 2:20-3:40 p.m.
Sarah von Hagn, pastry chef for AU Fresh, Alfred University’s food service provider, will give decorating lessons. Cost of the event is a Saxon meal swipe or $8 (cash, credit, Dining Dollars or Fiat Bux), with participants taking home a dozen cupcakes.
Class size is limited. To sign up, call 607-871-2285 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline to sign up is Sunday, Dec. 3.
Community Table is the new dining facility located in the former Li’l Alf Café space on the second floor of Powell Campus Center. The venue, which unofficially opened in October, will host various events, including cooking classes; an “integrated kitchen” where student organizations can book the facility to prepare and eat a meal; faculty-staff hosted dinners with students; and “pop-up meals”.
The facility will formally open early next semester, when a hand-crafted table and chairs will be put in place. A lighting fixture, made from a reclaimed barn beam with lighting globes crafted by Angus Powers, associate professor of glass, has already been installed.
