ALFRED, NY – Alfred University is only $30,000 away from reaching its goal of matching a $100,000 gift in support of the fifth annual MostArts Festival, scheduled for next July.

Organizers say the $100,000 matching gift to support the festival was provided by a private foundation and since August, nearly $70,000 has been raised toward the match. Anyone wishing donate to the matching fund is asked to call 607-871-2144.

The fifth annual MostArts Festival is scheduled for July 8-14 on the Alfred University campus. Events scheduled throughout the week will include a number of musical performances and concerts, and art exhibitions will be open in the University’s museums and galleries.

Among the headlining musical performers will be Grammy Award-winning piano soloist Angelin Chang and Steinway artists Anthony Pattin and Andreas Klein. The 2017 MostArts Young Pianist Competition grand prize winner, Alice Zhang, will be featured soloist, performing Chopin’s Piano Concert No. 1 at the festival’s Opening Gala. Ravel’s “Tzigane” will be performed by MostArts violinist Blanca Gonzales.

Spectators won’t want to miss the extraordinary talents of the eight finalists in the 2018 Young Pianist Competition, who will perform accompanied by the MostArts Festival Orchestra. The orchestra will once again be led by Maestro Yuval Zaliouk, internationally-renowned conductor.

There will also be workshops and demonstrations focusing on music and art (ceramics, painting and drawing, glassblowing), creative writing, and gardening.
