Alfred University’s Daisy Wu performs on guzheng at Carnegie Hall
Daisy Wu, associate director of the Confucius Institute at Alfred University and a visiting professor of music at the University, was among a group of musicians who performed last week at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall.
Wu performed on the guzheng, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument, as part of the “One World Opera; A Blend Between Eastern and Western Music” concert on Thursday, Feb. 1. Performing in the event at Weill Recital Hall (at Carnegie Hall) were musicians from China, Italy and the United States.
Among those in attendance at the concert were: officers from Chinese Consulate General of New York; the Italian Consulate General of New York; the provost of the Manhattan School of Music; and Rick Stephens, Alfred University provost.
