Alfred University student wins art competition, will have work displayed in solo exhibition
ALLEGANY, NY -- An Alfred University graduate student’s work will be displayed at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council as part of the Southern Tier Biennial.
Schuyler Dawson, an Alfred University student enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program, won a competition held as part of the 2017 Southern Tier Biennial Exhibition Art Show. More than 40 artists participated in the exhibition, which was held last fall at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council gallery in Allegany, NY.
By winning the professionally juried competition, Dawson was named best-in-show artist and will have his work displayed in a solo exhibition. His winning work, “Ode To Adolescence,” will be shown at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council gallery in September.
The Cattaraugus County Arts Council recently received a $22,207 grant from the F. Donald Kenney Fund at the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation in support of the Southern Tier Biennial Art Show. Since its establishment, the Kenney Fund has provided more than $260,000 in funding to the Biennial.
