‘Simple’ pottery by alumnus on exhibit in Illinois art center
The drawings and ceramic work of studio potter Robert Archambeau, AU Class of 1967, are on display at the Edwardsville (IL) Arts Center (EAC) through May 30, 2014 in an exhibition titled “Drawn & Fired II.” The pottery in the show, including bowls and bottles, is described as “simple, but they are beautiful in their simplicity. The things are very practical. You can use them if you wanted to.”
Robert retired from the University of Manitoba in 1991. In 2003, he received Canada’s Governor General’s Award in Visual and Media Arts and a Manitoba Arts Council Senior Grant. His pottery is represented by Akar Gallery in Iowa City, IA, and David Kaye Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The EAC is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays.
