Salt and Steel In Cahoots With... Exhibition

Concurrent exhibitions by Hope Zaccagni and Tim Pauszek, April 7 - August 3, 2018 at Cohen Center for the Arts, Cohen Gallery.
Zaccagni’s exhibition is titled “Salt and Steel.” It includes a collection of her formalist paintings, which are constructed with simple, direct color forms. She plays on the geometry of her subject matter in space by paying a great deal of attention to the architecture of the painting and to emphasize the visual, rather than emotional, elements of the work. Zaccagni has been an adjunct instructor in the AU School of Art and Design since 2008.

Pauszek’s exhibition is titled “In Cahoots With…” It highlights the collaborative prints produced in cahoots with and printed by Pauszek, who earned BA degrees in interdisciplinary art and chemistry from AU in 2014. The collection features works by School of Art and Design faculty as well as Institute for Electronic Arts (IEA) visiting artists who typically work across a diverse range of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional mediums.

Artists who collaborated with Pauszek for the exhibition include: Myles Calvert, visiting professor of printmaking; Karen Donnellan, assistant professor of glass; Bob Erickson, artist and printmaker; Dale Inglett, associate professor of art; Michael Kempson, master printmaker and senior lecturer at University of New South Wales, Australia; Stephanie McMahon, associate professor of painting; Kat Reising, assistant professor of foundations; Megan Scheffer, gallery manager at Sage Art Center, University of Rochester, and adjunct instructor of art, Alfred University; Linda Sormin, associate professor of ceramics; Scott Stephens, professor of art and chairman of the Department of Art at the University of Montevallo; and Angie To, associate professor of foundations.
