The MostArts Festival is only weeks away, celebrating 5 Years of Magic Music and Art in Alfred, featuring internationally renowned artists and the exciting “Young Pianist Competition”.

Our Opening Gala Concert, will feature last year's piano competition winner, Alice Zhang, performing Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the International Festival Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Yuval Zaliouk.

The Festival will again offer the noontime "Sound Bites Sampler" Chamber Music Series free of charge. The Festival will also feature various groups of musicians performing gems of the chamber music repertoire. Our Evening Concert Series includes internationally renowned pianists Andreas Klein and Angelin Chang as well as violinist Blanca Cecilia Gonzalez.

Eight piano competition finalists from across the United States, ages 13-18, will compete for a $10,000 grand prize. The prize money for this competition was given in memory of AU faculty member and longtime Wellsville, NY resident Robert Hutter. These extraordinary young people will perform solo recitals as well as concertos with the Festival Orchestra during the final round of the competition.

In addition to great music, there will be an opportunity to see great art during the "Music Under the Stars" Gallery Hop & BBQ featuring the Alfred Art Walk. The tour will take you to various galleries around the community and will culminate at the Alfred Ceramic Art Museum where you will walk through an exhibition by ceramic artist Cristina Cordova and you will see an exhibition of selected prints by Elisabeth Pellathy, Lee Somers, and Scott Stephens.

A variety of one-day workshops for all levels of ability are offered in clay, Plein Air, creative writing, Guzheng, food carving, cooking classics, and flower arranging. Space is limited for each workshop so sign up today.

You won't want to miss a moment of this year's MostArts Festival on the Alfred University campus July 8-14. Limited housing is still available at the “Brick B & B”. Be part of Alfred’s New Summer Set at the Brick.
All events are free except the Evening Concerts in Miller Theater and "Music Under the Stars" BBQ. Tickets are available online at MostArts.alfred.edu, or email us.
