Bergren Forum - "SN Refsdal: The Supernova that Wouldn’t Go Away"

Visiting Asst. Prof. of Astronomy Georgina Berestain-Kendall will discuss the 2014 discovery of the first multiply imaged, gravitationally lensed Supernova in the field of the Galaxy cluster MACS J1149, and its subsequent predicted reappearance about a year later. The talk will touch on general aspects of General Relativity, Cosmology, and Stellar Evolution.
The Bergren Forum sponsored by the Division of Human Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Provost’s Office will be meeting from 12:10 pm - 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 21 in the Nevins Theatre, Powell Campus Center.
