AU Dance TheatreAlfred University Performing Arts Division presents "An Evening of Dance," February 20 – 22 in the Miller Theater at 8:00 pm. Admission is free.
This year’s concert promises to be dynamic and engaging featuring very unique works created by four student choreographers and performed by over thirty student performers. The 2019-2020 student choreographers are Angela Childs, Mandela Franciscono, Carly Moldow, and Arenze Wellington. The Marlin Miller guest artist Jenise Anthony will set a new choreographic work on twelve AU Dance students and one AU Dance Alumni, Moné Rodgers, with dance assistant Krystal Cooper. Each evening also features two faculty choreographed pieces with new works by D. Chase Angier and Colleen Wahl, who are co-artistic directors.
Each evening will include dances of all sizes – an intimate solo to energetic large group works including an African Diaspora piece. The music selections range from introspective to wild and celebratory to driving. The costumes were designed by Alfred University Designer Maureen Weiss, Dance faculty Colleen Wahl and Colleen Wahl’s costume students – Luci Busch, Angela Childs, Genesis Luciano, and Mia Modaferri, and built by many students under the direction of Costume Shop manager Debra MacCrea.
This evening is made possible by the generous support of the Marlin Miller Dance Residency Program.
