An Afternoon of Brazilian Choro

Orginated in 19th Century Rio de Janeiro, choro is a popular instrumental music genre from Brazil.
Contrary to its meaning ("cry" or "lament"), choro music is mostly syncopated, joyous, and upbeat. In this concert, AU guitar faculty Ken Luk will be playing the bandolim (Brazilian mandolin) and presenting choro standards by Pinzinguinha, Jacob do Bandolim, Waldir Azevedo, etc. Dr. Luk will be joined by guest artists Bernardo Marcondes Rodrigues (guitar) and Darien Lamen (pandeiro).
