Moving Image Artist Ephraim Asili on "The Diaspora Suite"

Filmmaker, DJ, artist, and Assistant Professor of Film and Electronic Arts at Bard College, Ephraim Asili virtually joins the Alfred University community for a discussion of his series of short films entitled "The Diaspora Suite."

Asili’s five-part series is both a personal and global study of the African diaspora. Created over the course of seven years, every film in the series has a unique rhythm built around a specific amalgam of footage shot in American and international locations — each an important site within the African diaspora.

Asili will join us for a discussion of his work and engage in a Q&A with AU students and the Alfred community. Community members interested in the event should contact Assistant Professor James Hansen for a Zoom link.

It is recommended you screen the films prior to the 7:30 PM event on October 21. The films will only be available via a private virtual screening link via Video Data Bank from Monday October 19 through Thursday October 22. Please contact Assistant Professor James Hansen for a private link to screen the films. Please do not share the link with others.
