NIRE - IEA Artist in Residence
Institute for Electronic ArtsNYSCA - Electronic Media & Film
Erin Cooney or Nire is an interdisciplinary artist from Queens, NY, working in music/sound, performance, video and new media. She is a recent graduate of NYU Tisch’s ITP master’s program where she explored relations of humans and nonhumans: organic and machinic, via an animist and mystical lense. She’s interested in blurring artistic practice, knowledge-sharing spaces and performance. Nire is a recipient of the Red Burns Scholarship and a participant of the Red Bull Music Academy. Her work can be seen in: Dazed Digital, NPR, Fader, Interview Magazine, and XLR8R. The Institute for Electronic Art’s Experimental Projects Residency is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and the Schein-Joseph Endowment. Under COVID-19 protocols sadly any in-person engagements with students and IEA AIRs will not be possible.
