URIEL H CASPI: Terra Incognita
MFA Thesis ExhibitionUriel Caspi invites you to explore the unknown territory of "DAR" - a visionary space that encapsulated the fundamental conceptions of “space,” “time” and “matter” through the eyes of the artist.
Visually inspired by archeological remnants from the Middle East and the aesthetics of future design, installations of large-scale ceramic sculptures operate as platforms for artistic interaction between the artist and the viewer. The territory of the domestic space is used as case study, to examine the ‘habitat’ versus the ‘domicile’ and how personal, local and universal ideas fluctuate and synthesize together. Uriel Caspi is a ceramic artist born in Haifa, Israel, in 1994. Graduated magna cum laude from the Ceramics Department of the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. In 2019, awarded an emerging artist prize of the Hecht Museum Foundation. His work has been exhibited in Israel, the United States and Japan and is part of multiple collections. Caspi is one of the MFA candidates graduating this year. Visit Uriel Caspi’s website and Instagram @caspiceramics.
