MeltDown: 14th Annual Iron Pour

Public Metal Casting Event by Alfred Foundry Guild. The Division of Sculpture Dimensional Studies

We welcome you to come watch the fiery spectacle of melting and casting molten metal. Joining the Alfred crew will be alumni, students and faculty to create new work in cast iron. This year Alfred students will be running the road furnace 'MothRa'; Professor Lambert's portable coke fired 100# capacity cupolette Molten Iron will flow at temperatures up 2650 degrees Fahrenheit and be poured into unique sand and ceramic shell molds to create sculptural works. Some molds will be poured open face so you can witness the molten iron as it cools. Arrive at Dusk to see the Hot Iron GLOW!
