            Visiting Artist Stipan Tadic: Artist Talk
            ]]>

            <description>
            <![CDATA[
            Stipan Tadic was born in Zagreb in 1986. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2011 and finished his MFA in Visual Arts at Columbia University's School of the Arts in 2020. His first solo show was in 2009 and since then has had numerous solo and group exhibitions. In 2014 he published his first comic book titled Parisian Nightmares and continues to participate in independent comic zines. He is the co-organizer of the Biennial exhibition of Antisalon, founded in 2012 and still running. Tadic is the recipient of the Best Young Artist Award from HDLU, Zagreb in 2013, 1st Award at the International Comic Book Festival in Lodz, Poland, and several others, domestic and international. He currently lives and works in New York City.

            Saxon Strength & Wellness - Free Workouts - Sign Up

            The Alfred University Health Fitness Management students are hosting free, 50-minute, group workout sessions for Alfred University faculty, staff, students, and the Alfred community!

These Saxon Strength & Wellness sessions will include a variety of different workouts such as: bodyweight resistance, cardio, and flexibility/mobility. The sessions will consist of a warm up, various exercises, cool down, and a general health/wellness educational topic of the day. Workouts will accommodate for skill and experience level.

Schedule & Location: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:20-5:10pm in the multipurpose room located on the second floor of the Joyce and Walton Center. Sessions will run for four weeks from Tuesday, March 31st through Thursday, April 23rd.

            AU's Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Task Force is pleased to offer an overview/ conversation on the topic of Digital Accessibility. Digital Accessibility is the practice of creating electronic materials that are usable by all individuals, regardless of disability status or the use of assistive technology. It is also an important step to further promote inclusivity among our students, staff, and faculty.

The session will provide a brief overview of Digital Accessibility, as it applies to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), as well as practical steps everyone can take to increase the accessibility of their documents, web pages, and course materials. Instructions and resources will be provided.

As part of the Black Glass Artist series, Sam Drumgoole will be giving a public demonstration on her practice on March 17th and 19th from 1:30-3pm in Binns Merrill Hall room SB25. He will also be giving a public lecture on March 19th from 5-6pm Binns Merrill room 106. 

 

Sam Drumgoole currently lives and works in California. Drumgoole has worked with Dale Chihuly in Seattle and studied at Pilchuck Glass School and Alfred University before opening his own studio. He is highly regarded for his role as a mentor and educator for glass arts.

            Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Drop-In Hours

            On Monday, March 16 from 10:30am to 12:00pm, the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Task Force will be hosting UDL Drop-in Hours. Faculty may stop by to seek assistance with applying UDL principles in their courses. Universal Design for Learning is the practice of creating learning experiences appropriate for all students, regardless of learning differences or diversity factors. The goal of UDL is to remove barriers to learning.

Faculty who visit the drop-in hours may choose to focus on one of the following areas:
- Applying UDL principles to a syllabus
- Applying UDL principles to an assignment
- Applying UDL principles to a Canvas course
- Increasing the accessibility of electronic materials
- A self-directed UDL goal related to teaching and course delivery

UDL Drop-in Hours will be held in Scholes 218. If seeking assistance with a syllabus or assignment, please bring two paper copies. Please bring your laptop if seeking assistance with Canvas, digital accessibility, or another goal involving technology.

            Canvas Tip of the Week:  Restore Deleted Content

            ITS is pleased to highlight Canvas tools and features that can help faculty and students achieve their goals.  This week's tip is:

Restore Deleted Content

If you find that you have accidentally deleted a file, assignment, or another content item from your course, you should be able to restore it using the Undelete feature.  

1.	Navigate to the Home page of the course.
2.	In the URL window at the top of the screen, add "/undelete" to the end of the URL (without the quotation marks) and press Enter.
3.	You will see a list of content that can be restored. Only the listed items may be restored.
4.	Click the "Restore" button for the content you would like to restore.
