In its 2022 College Guide and Rankings report, Washington Monthly ranks Alfred University among top colleges and universities offering master's degree programs, earning national recognition.


Alfred University scored 94% in long-term value, on par with or better than Bucknell, Hofstra, Case Western, LeMoyne, Clemson, and California Polytechnic in the Brookings Institution’s "value added" assessment of about 4,000 schools nationwide.


Alfred University's Master of Fine Arts degree programs in ceramic art (#1) is once again top the national rankings list of similar curriculums, according to US News & World Report. Overall, AU was ranked #10 in the fine arts.

Among regional colleges and universities in the North, Alfred ranked 44th overall and was ninth in the Best Values School listing. These rankings represent an improvement over the 2021 listings, when Alfred University ranked 45th in the regional rankings and 13th in the Best Values School category. Alfred ranks 50th in the North in the Top Performers in Social Mobility category.


Forbes and the Princeton Review include Alfred University in their listings of the top schools in the country. Alfred University was listed in Princeton Review’s 2022 Best 387 Colleges rankings. The publication said it selects honored institutions based on “our high opinion of their academics."


Alfred is ranked in the top by Niche 2023 Best Colleges in categories such as "Colleges with the Best Academics in America" and "Best Colleges for Art in America."


Value Colleges rated Alfred University #42 in the "Top 50 Best Pre-College Summer Programs" for 2021, among the likes of Purdue, Duke, UCLA, Georgetown, and Virginia Tech, based on the quality, affordability, and potential our summer programs provide to young people.
