Alumni Spotlight is an electronic newsletter produced by the Alfred University Office of Marketing and Communications and published periodically throughout the year. It aims to highlight news and accomplishments of our amazing alumni. Alumni news is included in the Class Notes section of the Alfred alumni magazine, which is published twice a year. Leon Sobon ’58 and his wife, Shirley, founded Shenandoah Vineyards in 1977, helping to pioneer sustainable practices in the California wine industry. Shenandoah, based in Plymouth, CA, is one of the first environmentally friendly producers to distribute local wines widely outside the region.

Alumna Victoria Bradbury M.F.A. ’09 earned a Fulbright Distinguished Scholar Award for 2026 and will serve as an instructor at the School of Innovation and Technology at the Glasgow School of Art in Glasgow, Scotland.
