Alfred University teams take first and second place at fourth annual AHA! Competition

Teams of students from Alfred University claimed the first- and second-place prizes in the fourth annual AHA! Allegany County Startup Collegiate Competition, held Saturday, April 6, on the Alfred University campus. Five teams from Alfred University and three from Alfred State College presented their ideas for creating a new business to a panel of three judges. Winning teams were awarded cash prizes, which can be used to put their business plans into action.

Alfred University sculpture contingent visits Pittsburgh for Rivers of Steel Intercollegiate Iron Pour 

Alfred University Professor of Sculpture Coral Lambert joined a contingent of Alfred University students and alumni in Pittsburgh, PA for the first Intercollegiate Iron Pour, hosted by Rivers of Steel, an organization that showcases the artistry and innovation of southwestern Pennsylvania’s industrial and cultural heritage.

Alfred University welcomes 17 new members into its Phi Kappa Phi honor society chapter

The Alfred University chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society welcomed 17 new members during induction ceremonies held April 4 in Herrick Library. Six juniors, two seniors, four graduate students, and five faculty/staff comprised the group of inductees.

Alfred University Orchestra, Chorus to perform this weekend in Miller Theatre

The upcoming weekend will showcase Alfred University’s musical talents with a concert Friday by the Alfred University Orchestra and the spring concert Saturday by the Alfred University Chorus.

Letter by emeritus professor Ben Howard published in Times Literary Supplement

A letter by Benjamin Howard, Emeritus Professor of English at Alfred University, is featured in the current (March 29) issue of the Times Literary Supplement (London). Howard’s letter discusses Truman Capote’s controversial “non-fiction novel” In Cold Blood (1966) and its author’s claim to have invented a new literary genre.
