Alfred University’s Lambert, Romanchock recipients of SUNY Chancellor’s Awards

Alfred University’s Coral Lambert and Mechele Romanchock have been honored by the State University of New York with 2025 SUNY Chancellor’s Awards. The office of SUNY Chancellor John B. King Jr. recently announced that Lambert, professor of sculpture, is recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activities, while Romanchock, director of libraries, has received a Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Librarianship.

Alumnus Matthew Versaggi ’87 talks AI at engineering seminar

Matthew Versaggi was an undergraduate student at Alfred University in 1985, studying computer science and business, when the concept of artificial intelligence first piqued his interest. Herbert Simon, one of the early theorists of artificial intelligence, delivered a presentation on AI in Holmes Theater on the Alfred campus.

Alfred University teams take top two spots at fifth annual AHA! Competition

Teams of students from Alfred University claimed the first- and second-place prizes in the fifth annual AHA! Allegany County Startup Collegiate Competition, held Saturday, April 12, on the Alfred State College campus.

Alfred University Phi Kappa Phi welcomes 13 new members

The Alfred University chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society welcomed 13 new members during induction ceremonies held April 10 in Herrick Library. Four juniors, three seniors, three graduate students, and three faculty/staff comprised the group of inductees.

Diabou Hubbard, senior BFA major at Alfred University, will exhibit artwork in an upcoming group show in the fine art gallery at Lux O Collection, a New York City store specializing in fine and rare timepieces.

Mark Zupan interviewed for Rochester WROC story on student visa revocations

WROC, Rochester’s CBS television affiliate, published a story recently on the revocation of visas held by 11 University of Rochester students and recent graduates. Alfred University President Mark Zupan, who before coming to Alfred served as dean of U of R’s Simon Business School, commented for the story.
