The first Death Café, an effort to normalize conversations and understandings of an inevitable fact of life, took place in 2011, in the United Kingdom. More than 20,000 have been held worldwide since then, including Alfred University’s own Death Café, held last Thursday, March 27, in Susan Howell Hall.

Efstratios I. Kamitsos, researcher and former director of the Theoretical and Physical Chemistry Institute (TPCI), National Hellenic Research Foundation, Athens, Greece, delivered the annual Samuel L. Scholes Sr. Memorial Lecture at Alfred University, on Thursday, April 3, in Holmes Auditorium, Harder Hall.

The Center for Integrated Training and Education held its 2025 Spring Gala Wednesday evening, March 26, in Queens, New York City, celebrating the relationship between CITE and its partner institutions. Alfred University offers several master’s level program at off-campus sites, including its AUNY programs; CITE is a professional service organization that manages logistical operations for those programs.
