Students proceed from the Galanis Family Arena after receiving their diplomas during Alfred University's 189th Commencement exercises Saturday morning, May 17. Alfred University awarded 219 baccalaureate degrees, 62 master’s degrees, and five doctoral degrees to graduates who completed their degree requirements in May 2025. The University had previously conferred 67 baccalaureate degrees, 23 master’s degrees, and three doctoral degrees to August 2024, December 2024, and 2025 Allen Term (January) graduates.

At the Alfred University Board of Trustees dinner Friday evening, May 16, the university honored several faculty members for awards they received for the 2024-25 academic year. A pair of outstanding students and two honorary degree recipients were also recognized.

AUNY 2025 Commencement set for June 11

Alfred University’s AUNY program will hold its commencement ceremonies at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, at the Queensborough Performing Arts Center in Queens, NY. The ceremony honors 249 graduates from AUNY’s Class of 2025.

Bill ’78 and Debbie Rice provide housing grants for Canisteo-Greenwood High School graduates

Thanks to the generosity of Alfred University alumnus and Board of Trustee member Bill Rice ’78 and his wife, Debbie, students from Bill’s high school alma mater, Canisteo-Greenwood Central School, will have assistance paying for housing should they choose to attend Alfred this fall.

“Window Seat” exhibition showcases global voices from Alfred/Düsseldorf MFA in Painting alumni

The Division of Painting and Drawing at Alfred University is proud to present Window Seat, a curated exhibition of work by alumni from the Alfred/Düsseldorf MFA in Painting program. Featuring artists from each graduating class, the exhibition at the Cohen Gallery opens Friday, May 23 and reflects on the individual and collective journeys of these emerging voices since leaving Alfred.

S.K. Sundaram, Inamori Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Alfred University, has been appointed principal editor on the Editorial Board for the Materials Research Society.
