New students enrolling at Alfred University for the 2025-26 academic year proceed to Opening Convocation at the McLane Center’s Galanis Family Arena. Thursday's convocation marked the opening of Alfred University's 190th year. There are 452 new students in the incoming class, including 416 first-year students and 36 transfers.

Alfred University convocation opens 190th year

Alfred University hosted its Opening Convocation Thursday afternoon at the Galanis Family Arena, welcoming more than 450 new students to campus and marking the beginning of the University’s 190th academic year. Classes for the 2025-26 year begin on Monday, Aug. 25.

Alfred University celebrates excellence at Summer Engineering Research poster session

Alfred University’s 2025 Summer Engineering Research Institute concluded with a display of innovation, discovery, and student achievement. Undergraduate and graduate researchers presented the outcomes of their research projects during the annual Engineering Research Poster Session, where students showcased their work, from advanced materials science to renewable energy systems and innovations.

Alfred University Professor of Dance D. Chase Angier, Performing Arts Division, is presenting artwork in the 69th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition at Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester.
