Alfred University set to host AUEnergy Conference

Alfred University will host the AUEnergy Conference on Thursday, Oct. 23, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The event, themed “Emerging Technology for a Resilient Grid,” is a must for energy enthusiasts and power industry professionals.

Alfred University astronomy professor part of group pushing for developing of new space telescope

Alfred University Assistant Astronomy Professor Connor Robinson recently lectured at the European Southern Observatory Headquarters outside of Munich, Ger., on a proposal to be submitted to NASA for development of a new space telescope that would monitor the brightness of young stars.

Art History Professor Reza Mirzaei publishes "Equestrian Semiosis" in ART Magazine; essay examines equestrian motif in larger Iranian political context

Reza Mirzaei, clinical assistant professor of Art History at Alfred University’s School of Art & Design, New York State College of Ceramics, has published a peer-reviewed article “Equestrian Semiosis: Unpacking the Parodic Layers of Bahman Mohassess’s Painting and Theater” in ARTMargins, a journal published by MIT Press.

Renowned documentary photographer Jonathan “Jonás” Moller to visit Alfred University, will present exhibition on Guatemala

Jonathan “Jonás” Moller, an award-winning documentary photographer and human rights activist, will visit Alfred University Oct. 20–24. His photographic exhibition, Our Culture is Our Resistance: Repression, Refuge, and Healing in Guatemala, will be on display in the Cohen Gallery Oct. 17 to Dec. 5.

Postal Service releases Luna Moth stamp based on Joseph Scheer '84 print

The United States Postal Service has released its new stamp series Luna Moth, based on a print produced in 2001 by Alfred University Art Professor Emeritus Joseph Scheer '84. The stamp will be available in panes of 20 at post offices and on usps.com.
