Alfred University Assistant Professor Of Photography Kelsey "Chloë" Sucena, School of Art & Design, New York State College of Ceramics, recently presented new research and work at Harvard University’s 2025 Graduate Music Forum.

The conference,  TRANS* Media, took place Feb. 28 and March 1, and featured keynote speaker McKenzie Wark.

Sucena’s presentation, "Inverting the Phallus: On Photography, Sontag, and the Transsexual Camera," utilizes a trans* feminine theory of image production to reframe our understanding of photographic approaches following Sontag's criticism of the medium in her book On Photography.

Sucena’s presentation utilized analog 35mm slides, some of which were sourced from Alfred University's Scholes Library, to make a case in defense of post-documentary photographic approaches.
