Director

Nadine has been involved in higher education for 20 years assisting disadvantaged students through one-on-one study skills, counseling as a professional academic advisor, coordinator and director. For 10 of these years Nadine has been directly involved with the Opportunity Programs in New York State, specifically EOP and HEOP. She grew up in Niskayuna, NY and attended Alfred University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Clinical Counseling and completing all coursework necessary for the Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Counseling. Nadine has made Alfred her home since 1982 and she and husband Mark, Executive Director of Operations for Alfred University’s University Relations Division have two children – Justin 17 and Eva 15. Nadine’s philosophy is that “it takes a village to raise a child” and that is how she runs the Opportunity Programs at Alfred University. “It’s all about teamwork!”

Michele has been part of the Alfred University community since 1997 where she worked in the Registrars Office assisting part-time graduate students with course registration, the compilation and editing of various office publications and monitoring student withdrawals and leaves of absence. In 1999, Michele joined the Opportunity Programs Team and has been a contributing member of this team since. Currently she is responsible for assisting both new and continuing students attain their personal and educational goals. “The students are the best part of my job; it’s like having an extended family.” Michele earned an Associate Degree from SUNY Delhi and her Bachelor Degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Alfred University. Michele lives in Hornell with her husband, Gene, son, Matt and daughter, Tayghan.

The Opportunity Programs would like to welcome Antonio Williams to its staff as the First Year Student Counselor. In this position, Antonio will work directly with our new students entering fall 2007. In addition, he will work side by side with the Director in recruitment efforts for future entering classes. He will assume primary responsibility for the Summer Transition Program that all new students are required to participate in to become matriculated in the fall of each year. Antonio was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to Rochester, New York in August of 1996 . He is a graduate of Hilton High School in Rochester. Antonio is also a recent graduate of Alfred University, with a Bachelor’s in Sociology and a minor in Coaching as well as a former HEOP student. During his time at Alfred he participated on the Varsity football team and was a member of squad that earned two E.C.A.C Championships one as coach and one as a player. Antonio also served as a Summer Peer advisor for the Opportunity Programs prior to being hired in his new position.

Wendy comes to the Opportunity Programs Team with a background in Applied Sciences. She earned her Associate Degree in 2002 from Alfred State College in Alfred, NY. Wendy joined the office in February 2005 where she provides “the glue that keeps the office together”. Wendy is responsible for greeting students, faculty/staff and off campus guests as they arrive to our office; “it feels like a second home when you walk into the office.” Wendy manages the counselor’s calendar, creating and distributing the OP newsletters just to name a few. Wendy lives in Belmont and has raised two children, April 23 and Matthew 20.
