Benefits - In addition to the potential for a four year full-tuition, room and board scholarship, or a full-tuition scholarship, Merit Scholar Finalists may participate in the University's unique Honors Program or become eligible to join one of Alfred's honor societies, including the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa.

Alfred University's National Merit Scholars - More than 150 National Merit Scholars have attended AU since 1993. They have won Fulbrights, appeared on Jeopardy, participated in the national round of College Bowl, finished second in the World Puzzling Contest, and been voted one of the best high school English teachers in Massachusetts. They have also gone on to prestigious graduate schools such as Harvard Law, MIT, Carnegie Mellon, and Johns Hopkins, and established successful careers at the Word Bank, Pratt & Whitney, Bankers' Trust, Corning Glass, and Down East - the Magazine of Maine, to name but a few.

• Apply and be offered admission to Alfred University, meeting all deadlines
• Indicate Alfred University as your first choice on the National Merit Scholar form
• Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, AU's Financial Aid Application and your home state grant application
• Become a National Merit Finalist
• Join the ranks of Alfred University's Merit Scholars
